Students who are licensed Amateur Radio operators are encouraged to
apply for scholarships that can assist with their costs of higher
education. The period to apply is now through December 30, 2025.
ARRL, through its sister organization, the ARRL Foundation, oversees
awards for 170 scholarships totaling $800,000 available in 2026.
Scholarships range from $500 to $25,000. Many have specific criteria to
be eligible, such as class of license, GPA, major being pursued,
geographical location, etc., but the common denominator to be eligible
is every applicant must have a current Amateur Radio license. More
information can be found on ARRL’s website at:
https://www.arrl.org/scholarship-program . Please share this information
with families with young Hams and educators. Advise them to begin their
applications early because they will need to send transcripts and obtain
three letters of recommendation. There are scholarships for two-year,
four-year and graduate programs.
